The Let’s Play Netball Tournament was first run in 2012, with around 8 teams taking part. Now in its seventh year, this fun event for men and women of all ages accommodates 25 teams, approximately 200 people in total! In addition to the netball, we run a refreshments stall, and a raffle to raise additional money.
This year the tournament will take place on the netball courts at The Priory School, Hitchin, on Saturday 30th June.
Teams will compete for one of three trophies
Response Personnel Cup;
Purlys Dental Practice Plate; and
Bartram Timber Trophy
This event is staged in order to raise funds for local good causes. To date we have donated in excess of £10,000. This year we are raising money for
- Lifegeta, a local support network for people with life changing acquired conditions, their friends, family & carers. The group helps to address the emotional effects of finding yourself in a body that doesn’t do what it used to do because of a life changing condition or disability
- East and North Herts Hospital Charity to support unpaid carers
We are extremely fortunate to be supported by local companies such as HRJ Foreman Laws, Lyndhurst Financial Management and GKN Aerospace. With their help, we maximise the amount of money donated to the good causes.
The tournament is staffed by a wonderful army of volunteers who give up their time year after year – umpires, refreshments and raffle stall helpers, timekeepers, scorers and lastly but not least, the MC who provides us with commentaries and entertainment throughout the day.
