A History of Hitchin: Britain in a Nutshell. The town has a long and remarkable history so it is no surprise that many amateur historians have written excellent histories of Hitchin. This video is not intended to be a comprehensive history. This is a personal view in which I will attempt to place Hitchin in its historical and national context. It is an affectionate view, at times light-hearted. With no apology, it is intended to show this fine town at its best. I hope that, whether you are a local or a welcome visitor, you will enjoy it and it will inspire you to discover more about the town I love.
